Pasha to Platt’s Symbol/Category Conversion Examples

 

Example #1:

 

For our first example, let’s look at the query: “SHOW 1:  Midpoint of LOS.HENRYHUB”

This query, after changing it to use the Platt’s symbol equivalent will be: “SHOW 1: Index of IGBBL21”

 

Note that the column names for the Platts symbols are sometimes different than the columns used for the Pasha symbols.  For this example, the Pasha symbol used the column "Midpoint" while the Platt’s symbol equivalent uses the column "Index".

 

 

How to Look Up the Platt’s Symbol Name:

 

Using MIMIC, drill down in the path to the “LOS.HENRYHUB” symbol. The path is “TopRelation:Energy:NaturalGas:HenryHub

 

Notice that currently under “HenryHub” there is a “Pasha” and a “Platts” folder:

 

 

The Pasha symbol “LOS.HENRYHUB” is listed under the “Pasha” folder (TopRelation:Energy:NaturalGas:HenryHub:Pasha):

 

 

The query in MIMIC displays as:

 

 

Since the Pasha symbols are going away, we must find the equivalent Platt’s symbol name. To do this, look in the spreadsheet (http://www.lim.com/menu/symbolmap/ftcolumns.xls) under “Pasha Symbol Name” for the Pasha symbol “LOS.HENRYHUB” then check under the corresponding column “Midpoint”:

 

The Platt's symbol name equivalent is: "IGBBL21" and the column name equivalent is “Index”:

 

 

If we go back to MIMIC, and open the browser, we can see that the symbol “IGBBL21” is located under the “Platts” folder (TopRelation:Energy:NaturalGas:HenryHub:Platts) and that the column name is “Index”:

 

 

 

The following graphic shows the Pasha symbol/column and the equivalent symbol/column from Platts:

 

 

 

Example #2:

 

For our next example, let’s look at the query: “SHOW 1:  PkWeightedAvg of E.CINERGY.INTO”

This query, after changing it to use the Platt’s symbol equivalent will be: “SHOW 1:  Index of WEAY020”

 

Note that the column names for the Platts symbols are sometimes different than the columns used for the Pasha symbols.  For this example, the Pasha symbol used the column "PkWeightedAvg" while the Platt’s symbol equivalent uses the column "Index".

The query in MIMIC displays as:

 

 

Since the Pasha symbols are going away, we must find the equivalent Platt’s symbol name. For this example, we will use the weekday data and the “WEAY020” symbol. The Platt’s column equivalent is “Index”.

 

 

If we go back to MIMIC, and open the browser, we can see that the symbol “WEAY020” is located under the “Platts” folder (TopRelation:Energy:Electricity:Cinergy:Platts) and that the column name is “Index”:

 

 

 

 

The following graphic shows the Pasha symbol and the equivalent symbol from Platts:

 

 

 


Example #3:

 

This example shows two Platt’s symbols (“WEAY020” – weekday data and “WEAY021” – weekend data) for the Pasha symbol “E.CINERGY.INTO”.  

 

 

 

 

The Pasha symbol “E.CINERGY.INTO” has both the weekend and weekday values. The Platt’s symbol lists the weekday values under the symbol “WEAY020” and the weekend values under “WEAY021”. This example will demonstrate how to “SHOW 1: Index of WEAY020 and WEAY021” that is show both the weekend and weekday values using the Platt’s symbols.

 

In MIMIC enter the following into the Formula field:

 

 

 

If we table the results we can see that this formula will compile all of the weekend and weekday values.
