The Market Information Machine (XMIM) is a powerful tool designed to help traders with a wide
variety of tasks related to scanning financial markets for trading opportunities.
A typical user evaluating an opportunity might follow these steps.
- observe an opportunity in the market
- model the event
- test the effect of that type event through history
- simulate trading to test risk control methods on the model
- build a notification system that alerts the trader when the event occurs
To accomplish this, XMIM has been designed with the following features:
- a large historical database which provides all the information in a single format
- simple creation of synthetic time series such as spread and indexes
- thousands of pre-defined events and patterns
- the ability to test any combination of events and patterns
- risk management testing using common trading methods
- searching and testing across markets or data fields
- filtered output of searches
- automatic execution of and reporting of queries
To facilitate use by non-programmers, there is a menuing system that guides the user
through query creation. The query language is English like, and yields statements
such as:
show 5 day move of DELL when High of DELL is more than
High of DELL 1 day ago
Sophisticated users appreciate the full range of the vocabulary which allows
description of virtually any event from candle patterns to spread divergence to triangle
breakouts.
