Austin, TX - July 2005 - Standard Operating Procedure -
LIM is pleased to announce the following additions to our optional data selections. Please see the LIM contact information at the bottom of the page to order or find out more about these optional data offerings.

Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO)
AESO brings together two former entities, the Power Pool of Alberta and the Transmission Administrator of Alberta. As an independent system operator, the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) leads the safe, reliable and economic operation and planning of Alberta's interconnected power system. The AESO also facilitates Alberta's hourly wholesale electricity market, which has more than 200 participants and $5 billion in annual energy transactions, and is accountable for the overall coordination of provincial load settlement.

For details on AESO data and contact information, see the AESO vendor page on the LIM website.

AlphaLogic
AlphaLogic Technologies Inc. is a financial research and advisory firm specializing in the delivery of unique market transparency information. The firm provides rigorously cleaned data and patent-pending analytical statistics designed to create a distinct information advantage.

AlphaLogic provides the largest and cleanest historical CTI dataset and our patent-pending Imbalance Statistics identify patterns when, and at which prices, particular groups are producing significant activity. As the MIM sample patterns indicate, identifying these opportunities provides a measurable statistical advantage. For example, using AlphaLogic CTI data from the CBOT® and the LIM Market Information Machine, a CTI query improved the average trade on a basic price pattern by 275% including identifying the recent multi-week reversal in Ten Year Notes on 2/9/05. Subscribers will receive the sample patterns used to generate the spreadsheet, as well as periodic patterns and consulting from a CTA experienced with the dataset.

For details on AlphaLogic data and contact information, see the Alphalogic vendor page on the LIM website.

Argus Emission Europe
The environmental costs of operating a power plant or a refinery have become a major consideration in evaluating operational profit or loss. Governments have instituted trading programs to help companies manage these costs more efficiently. With the increased interest in controlling greenhouse gas emissions, these costs and programs are becoming increasingly important to all participants in the energy industry - from sellers of automotive fuels facing tighter specifications to developers of power plants subject to stricter output limits.

The daily Argus European Emissions Markets report covers the EU ETS trading scheme, Swedish elcertificates, UK Rocs and generation economics. It also includes the Argus Emissions Index.

For details on the Argus Emission Europe data and contact information, see the Argus Emission Europe vendor page on the LIM website.

California Independent System Operator (CAISO)
California ISO ensures equal access to 25,526 circuit miles of transmission lines and conducts open and fair markets that are used as a last resort to balance the system. Final procurement results, zonal average energy prices, system load, load and resource schedules, generation meter multipliers, tie meter multipliers, and congestion zone reference prices are available.

For details on CAISO data and contact information, see the CAISO vendor page on the LIM website.

Data Transmission Network (DTN)
LIM is proud to announce the recent addition of datasets from Data Transmission Network (DTN), the nation's leading resource for grain prices and agricultural weather data. DTN has the only public and comprehensive database of U.S. cash grain prices, and now this data is accessible through LIM products. This includes daily prices from 2,800 grain elevators around the country for its subscriber base of large farmers. Over time, DTN has built up an unmatched dataset of cash prices for the most important crops in the U.S., allowing users to analyze the movements of prices at a national and local level. The database includes local and national price data for the following commodities:

  • Corn (1993 to present)
  • Soybeans (1993 to present)
  • Wheat (1993 to present)
  • Multiple additional commodities, including soybean meal, barley, cornmeal, sunflower oil and more.

While food and energy prices have soared, the knowledge of what is happening in the agriculture production market is becoming more and more important. Future movements in the price of grains can be predicted by carefully studying the relationships between cash and futures spreads. LIM's products allow you to easily achieve this.

See this link for examples of how the research tools of LIM coupled with DTN data were used to predict big moves in the market before they occurred.

For more information on how to obtain the DTN dataset, please contact a LIM sales representative (please see contact information below). The DTN website is located at: www.dtn.com.
