Weather Data Relocation
Notification - October 2003 -
LIM customer databases have all recently been upgraded to 4X MIM
versions. One of the benefits of the 4X platform is that certain
previous restrictions on the location of data in the MIM tree have now
been removed.
One of these previous restrictions led to the extensive use of the
"Other" category in the hierarchy when adding various sets of data.
As part of our ongoing desire to keep your MIM database up-to-date and
make the data more accessible to users, we now intend to move all of the
data under the "Other" category into more appropriate locations in the
hierarchy.
The first step in this process is to move everything now located under
the TopRelation:Other:Geophysical category (weather data) into:
TopRelation:Weather:Geophysical
It is planned to implement this change on Tuesday, October 28, 2003.
Customers will not see any difference in symbols or columns, just the
parent change in the hierarchy. The only likely impact would be if an
XMIM query referred to the entire relation of the weather data in
TopRelation:Other or any sub branch of the data. If queries refer
directly to symbols, they will not be affected.
We will be announcing further changes to clean out the "Other" category
through the remainder of the year.
