Removing Gas Daily & Megawatt Daily (Pasha)
Updates/Symbols/Categories from the LIM Database

Change Management Notification

Austin, TX - April 2005 - Maintenance Operation Procedure -

Overview

LIM databases have historically contained symbols fed from the Gas Daily and Megawatt Daily publications formerly owned by Pasha Inc. and then bought by FT Energy which itself was acquired by Platts in 2001. During 2001 and 2002, Platts created their own symbols for Gas Daily and Megawatt Daily using their existing symbol methodology. In December of 2004, Platts stopped updating the Megawatt Daily feed using the "Pasha" symbols. On March 1, 2005 they stopped updating the Gas Daily Pasha symbols.  On May 2, 2005, LIM will remove the Pasha symbols and categories to avoid duplication in our database.

Pasha to Platts Spreadsheet

To ease the transition, LIM has mapped the Megawatt Daily and Gas Daily Pasha symbols to Platts symbols and has continued to feed them from the equivalent Platts symbols since December. LIM stopped updating the Pasha symbols for Megawatt Daily and Gas Daily on March 1, 2005. Customers therefore need to transition analysis and applications using the "Pasha" symbols and categories.

LIM has posted a Pasha to Platts map on the website at:
http://www.lim.com/menu/symbolmap/ftcolumns.xls to assist in converting to the Platts codes. This link is also listed on the "Energy Publications/Symbol Mapping" page (Data>Energy Publications/Symbol Mapping) on the LIM website (www.lim.com):

Examples

The following examples show how to look up old Pasha symbols and categories and replace them with the new Platt's symbol and category equivalents from the supplied spreadsheet. (http://www.lim.com/menu/symbolmap/ftcolumns.xls).
These examples use the MIMIC application.

Date of Removal

On
May 2, 2005, LIM will remove the Pasha symbols and categories to avoid duplication in our database.
